A photograph was sent to the Mtn Dew Kid, with Game Fuel (Arctic Burst) (promoting Middle-earth: Shadow of War) and another flavor named Game Fuel (Tropical Smash) (promoting Forza Motorsport 7) to be released on August 22nd, 2017 (later changed to be released in October 2017) as part to coincide with the Every60Seconds promotion where people could win Xbox One X consoles with point auctions. On May 27th, 2017, Game Fuel (Arctic Burst) was first leaked by the Mtn Dew Kid, a Mountain Dew fan-hosted website for the latest Mountain Dew news in the 2010s. In January 2021, a SmartLabel listing for a 20-ounce bottle of Frost Bite Zero Sugar was leaked. It was officially released to Walmart stores in the United States on March 23rd, 2020 as a permanent flavor, and was sold in 12-packs, 24-pack cubes, 16.9-ounce bottle multipacks, and 20-ounce Sidekick bottles. Also, the employee also gave a statement about the release, stating that it would get released in Walmart stores and mentioning a release date of April 2020. On January 15th, 2020, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, Frost Bite was leaked by a PepsiCo employee named "mtndewinsider," showing an advertisement of a 16.9-ounce bottle of Frost Bite to which he later received as a 20-ounce test sample bottle. However, the community and moderation team prevented the leak's spread, both to prevent the drink's launch from potentially getting canceled (based on what happened to Happy Dew Year), as well as for the safety of the leaker.
